We believe every rescue rabbit, guinea pig, chinchilla and degu deserves healthy nutritious hay.
When we started the business we wanted to 'give something back' and help small animal rescue centres. Our first thought was to give a percentage of our profits. But as a new business it typically takes between 1 and 3 years to become profitable! We eventually decided that we would not spend money on google, FB, Instagram advertising and instead spend our advertising budget on hay to help out rescue centres. This way we can support rescue centres from day 1.
For every on-line hay purchase you make for your furry loved ones, we donate hay on your behalf to a rescue centre for small herbivores. So, together we make a difference to the lives of rescue centre rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and degus across the UK.
Herby and Hay, our own bunnies, were adopted from Worcestershire Rabbit Rescue and Ludo, our resident pooch, was adopted from Birmingham Dogs Home.
Supporting Nature- At Healthy Herby farm we plant wild flower strips and cover crops which not only improve the soil quality they support an abundance of wildlife. One of our fields on the banks of the river Severn has even been designated an area of 'special scientific interest', by the wildlife trust, because of the rare fauna that grows there. And as you would expect we never use pesticides!
Eco-Friendly Packaging - Our corrugated cardboard boxes are the leading sustainable packaging choice, due to their recyclability, reusable and biodegradable credentials. The inks used to print our boxes are water based, but what's really special is the replacement of traditional ink binders and additives with natural and renewable materials, such as sugar cane, tree resin and vegetable oils. Which means this 'state of the art' ink is safe for rabbits and guinea pigs to gnaw!
